The purpose of a resume is to provide a summary of your skills, abilities, experiences and accomplishments. Resumes are often the first impression you will make in the employment process. All RTW Fellows need to have an effective resume that projects professionalism and enthusiasm.
Resume Format
- One page in length
- Wording should be concise – a snapshot not a complete picture
- Invite reader attention with open space, wide margins and bullets
- Use good quality paper
- Identify accomplishments, don’t just describe employment or volunteer positions
- Consider adding an “Objective” or “Career Goal” statement
- Make sure to proofread and correct all spelling mistakes, ask others to proofread
- Show your personality – include a hobbies and interest section
- Use your resume – hand it out or email it - it is an important networking tool
